Urology Urology is the study of the urinary tract in men and women, as well as the reproductive system.
Infections of the urinary tract affect a sizable portion of our population. They occur more commonly in women than in men. With proper diagnosis and treatment, urinary tract infections (UTIs) can be resolved quickly and without complications.
One common test done by our urologists is urinalysis, which shows which bacteria are present in the urine. Another common test is called a CYSTOSCOPY. By looking through a scope inserted through the urethra and into the bladder, the urologist can see if there are any abnormalities.
Our urologists also perform transurethral resection, also known as TURP. This surgery removes the diseased prostatic tissue while avoiding infection.
